The tool assumes your future driving continues at the same average pace as the agreement so far. It compares projected full-term mileage with the contractual allowance. This makes it useful for an early warning, not as a prediction.
If you enter the excess-mileage rate, the calculator multiplies projected excess miles by that rate. Actual charges depend on the odometer at return and the lender’s contract terms.
Excess mileage and vehicle condition are different return issues. A car can be within mileage but still have chargeable damage, or be in good condition but over mileage.
